Take me out to the Owlz game . . .

Friday the 5th was the last game of the season for the Owlz and it was a beautiful night so we decided to go. Grant went up to the ticket window to buy tickets but were told that the only tickets left were for the berm. We've never seen the seats sold out before! While he was at the window, a lady offered me some free tickets but they were for the berm so I said, "Thanks anyway," not knowing those were the only tickets available. So when Grant told me that, we tried to find that lady again but ran into another guy who offered us 2 tickets in the section behind home plate. Cool! Great seats for free!

Last night was the 2nd game of the playoffs against Great Falls and it was a beautiful night so we decided to go again. On the way to the ticket window, a nice lady asked us if we had bought our tickets yet. We told her we hadn't and she gave us two tickets for the section behind plate! Two games in a row somebody handed us free tickets right behind home plate! What are the chances? We really enjoyed the game, especially since they won in 13 innings. Go Owlz! Whooo Whooo!

Happy Birthday, Emily!

My goodness, how time flies!

I never liked the song "Sunrise, Sunset."
It made me sad to think my kids would grow up and leave.
But, by golly, they did anyway!
I'm sure glad that you're my daughter!

Labor Day Weekend Traditions!

It's Swiss Days again!

Friday night we stayed at Hi's beautiful home on the hill in Heber so we could get an early start on shopping Saturday morning.
So much fun! And then . . .

BYU FOOTBALL Grant and I grabbed our stadium seats and went to the game Saturday afternoon. It was 99 degrees and the sun was brutally beating down. I don't think I've ever been SO hot. I missed the 2nd quarter because I had to go find shade. By half-time there was a blessed cloud cover.Woohoo! BYU 41 -- Northern Iowa 17

PAYSON ONION DAYS

Monday morning we were all set to watch the traditional Onion Days parade, hoping and hoping that the predicted rain would hold off until after the parade . . .

. . . but that was not to be. The temperature dropped, the rain started, the wind blew, . . .

. . . and everybody got drenched. Most of us gave up and went for cover at Aunt Barbara's. We felt so bad for those who were in the parade and had to keep going! It was fun getting together anyway. This is the first rainy Labor Day I remember in my whole life and that's a lot of years to remember!

Weekend at Grammie's, Chapter 2

On Saturday morning Grandpa and I met Ryan, Lacey, Amy, and Jayson at the SLC airport. Ryan & Lacey had the awesome opportunity to be with President Monson in the celestial room as he dedicated the new Twin Falls Temple Sunday morning (Lacey's dad is one of the stake presidents there) so we brought Amy and Jayson to our house. Jayson wasn't so sure about the arrangement but he eventually warmed up to us.

Thomas and Amy have a great time together. It's so fun to watch them play and enjoy each other's company. Too bad they don't get the chance to be together very often.

On Sunday evening Emily and I took the kids back to the airport to meet Ryan & Lacey. It was a really quick visit but I'm so glad we had the chance to see them all again!

Cabin Fever

Last Thursday and Friday I went with the IRSC (Institute of Religion Student Council), three faculty members, and two other secretaries to this great cabin. This retreat is an annual event to train the student council for the upcoming school year. It was my chance to train them on how to use the institute credit cards and manage their budgets.

We had a blast. They are a great bunch and the institute is in good hands for the 2008-09 school year.

Weekend at Grammie's, Chapter 1

Logan and Kate came to stay with us from Thursday the 14th to Monday the 18th while their parents & bro & sis were playing in Hawaii. Grandpa and I really enjoyed them! Kate and Logan had spent the first part of the week at different families so when they got back together at our house Logan was really glad to see his sister. Whenever she left the room he would say, "Where's KateKate?" At bedtimes Kate got a little homesick and wanted to call her mom but did great the rest of the time.

Thomas & Mya came up to play with them on Friday morning. They are helping us get rid of some of the BYU brownies we had left over from institute Thursday night.

Grandpa & I had a previous engagement Saturday night and couldn't find a babysitter so Melissa kindly offered to take Kate and Logan to their Primary's bike parade and luau with them. Who needs Hawaii -- they got to go to this fun luau in American Fork!
Pretty fancy bike decorating!

It made me feel good when Kate wanted to call me at bedtime instead of her mom that night. They were good kids and kept us laughing at the cute things they said and did.

Stay tuned for "Weekend at Grammie's, Chapter 2" featuring Amy & Jayson coming up next week!
